Ahhh, finally! The month of pumpkin spice everything, sweaters, tea (or coffee), cozy blankets, Thanksgiving for us Canadians, and most of all Halloween, the month of dress-up. This is the month all cosplayers anticipate. It’s like Costume Christmas. Oh, the character possibilities. I could go on about costumes but I won’t.
Costumes, costumes, costumes! Okay, I am done.
Another thing that some of us writers look forward to is… prepping for NaNoWriMo. Outlines, world-building, and plotting? Bring it on. I have an amazing writing group that is super supportive and I’m looking forward to story prep this month. What are some of your tips for NaNoWriMo preparations?
Some of the tips I have found from various sources online: wake up early and write to start your day, do research, start an outline (for those of you who like outlines) – I am giving outlining a try for my next book and will see how that works for me – (I do a bit of both. I think. I honestly do whatever works for me at the time.), don’t look at social media – write first – then reward with social media! Brainstorm ideas, write everything down! Let people know you are doing NaNoWriMo. Sign up for NaNoWriMo and join writer groups. And of course, stock up on tea, coffee, treats (nourish yourself), pens and paper/ notebooks, whatever tickles your inner writer. In the end, it’s all about getting your inner muse excited for the crazy chaos that NaNoWriMo is. Mental preparation for the win!
Even if you fail, fail in a blazing ball of glory.
Just write and have fun creating.
